How to manage a case as a drafter
A drafter is responsible for creating/obtaining information required to respond to the case and correspondent. A drafter can reassign the case to another drafter if required, release ownership of the case to the team of drafters or reject the case. When rejecting the case, the drafter can decide whether to reject to the Hub Coordinator who originally assigned the case to them, or to the person who created the case on eCase.
Once a case has been allocated to a drafter, there are several steps that a drafter can do to request information to complete the case.
- Acknowledge the correspondents request.
- Clarification Needed – a drafter can request information from the correspondent to clarify their case.
- View a case that is awaiting clarification.
- Take ownership of a case that is awaiting clarification.
- Request a contribution – the drafter can ask for input into the case from other people that have more experience in the case topic. See the How to request a contribution section.
- Draft a response to the case. See the How to respond to the case section.
- Request quality assurance (QA) on a case – once a draft has been created, the case can be sent to a QA user who can check the information prior to it being sent out to the correspondent. See the How to request a quality check of the case section.
Optional:
- Review Linked Cases to see if any cases on eCase are related to the new case.
- Add in anyone that needs to Watch This Case.
- Add any Mandatory Clearances.
