IP Whitelist
The IP Whitelist allows you to add an extra layer of security to your eCase and control a list of trusted IP addresses from which your users can access eCase. Only IPv4 Addresses are supported.
To modify the IP Whitelist settings, a user will need the Manage Authentication Settings privilege on their user account.
NOTE It is recommended that this privilege is restricted to only a few users, and ideally only provided to your IT team.
To enable the IP whitelist, follow the steps below:
- Once signed into eCase, go to the More menu and select IP Whitelist under the Settings column.
- To enable the IP Whitelist, in the Enable Whitelist field, select Enabled.
NOTE This can be done prior to adding the IP range or after you have added and checked the IP range. The IP Whitelist will not be activated until you Save the details. - To add an IP range, select the Add new IP range button. A new blank row in the table will appear.
If you have... Then... Selected Enabled in the Enable Whitelist field The icon will state Enabled Selected Disabled in the Enable Whitelist field The icon will state Enabled but inactive. You will need to Selected Enabled in the Enable Whitelist field before the IP range will become effective. - In the Name field, enter a description that will help you identify the IP range.
- In the Start IP field, enter the first IP in the range you wish to whitelist. The value you enter will be included in the IP Whitelist.
- In the End IP field, enter the last IP in the range you wish to whitelist. The value you enter will be included in the IP Whitelist.
- Continue to add all of the IP ranges you wish to whitelist. To add a new IP Range, click on the Add new IP range button and follow steps 4 to 6.
- To save the IP Whitelist settings, click on the Save button. The IP Whitelist will immediately take effect, if there are Enabled IP ranges, restricting the users who can Sign In to eCase.
NOTE If you have entered an IP range that doesn't include one you are on, you will receive a warning message that states that the whitelist will prevent you from accessing eCase and cannot be saved. The message will provide you with your IP address.
Disable an IP Range
If you do not want an IP range to be enabled, select the Disable link at the end of the relevant IP range row in the table. The Disabled icon will appear. Save the details by clicking on the Save button. If you want to enable this IP range at a future date, click on the Enable link at the end of the row.
Remove an IP Range
If you do not want an IP range anymore, select the Remove link at the end of the relevant IP range row in the table. A message appears asking if you are sure you want to delete the IP range. To confirm, click on the Remove IP range button, then save the details by clicking on the Save button.
