How to Reopen a Case
Once a case has been closed, there are a number of occasions when it might need to be reopened.
- Case Data Update - the case is reopened to update any of the data, for example correspondents details, spelling mistakes or updating the FOI Outcome.
- Reopen for Case Processing - the case is reopened so that it can be re-processed. The tool bar options become available so that the case can continue to be investigated.
Follow the steps below to reopen a case.
- Use the Case Search area to find the case that is closed, or the Search area if you know the Case Ref number.
- Once the case is visible in the Case Details screen, click on the Reopen button. The Reopen Case pop up window appears.
- Select the Reason for re-opening the case:
- Case Data Update
- Reopen for Case Processing - Click on the Assign To drop down to select who you would like to allocate the case to.
- Click on the Reopen button.
- Update the case as required:
If you reopened for… Then… Case Data Update - Update the data.
- To close the case, follow the steps in the Close a Case section.Reopen for Case Processing - Investigate the case following the case process.
